We have the capability to conduct updates across the board on any manufacturer's device. Available upgrades include implementation of new aerodynamics, engine and flight controls model upgrades, visual system updates, software and hardware updates, configuration changes, and worldwide qualification assistance.

Implementation of Simulator Data Package Modifications
Data packages are reviewed and updated often as airplanes, airports, and regulatory requirements change. Customers can select, within engineering limits, what element of a data package they want to implement for full flexibility and cost control. Examples of modifications include aerodynamics, engine and flight control model releases. The data that it takes to run a simulator may come from many different vendors and Boeing Training & Flight Services has the skills and expertise to ensure that this data gets successfully integrated.

Configuration Updates
Boeing Training & Flight Services has successfully completed several complex aircraft configuration updates. With implementation of the appropriate software and hardware, existing simulators can be modified for use with multiple aircraft types, greatly increasing the flexibility and training capabilities of the simulator. This could entail adding a new aircraft derivative to a simulator or an aircraft feature such as winglets, thrust ratings, and engine type. Other more dramatic updates are available such as changing to a completely new model of aircraft.

Visual System Upgrades and Replacement
Simulator Management Services has performed numerous visual updates. We offer complete visual upgrade solutions that address changes in regulations, an airport change, changes in simulator features such as Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), or address older visual systems that have become obsolete.

Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Retrofits for all Boeing Aircraft
The EFB is a fairly recent technology change that has quickly become the standard on most newly delivered aircraft, and is an increasingly popular retrofit. Advantages of EFB include the standardization of manuals in the cockpit and the ability to ensure documents and charts are current. Boeing Training & Flight Services has been at the leading edge of EFB implementation, with access to data before it is available externally. Full EFB hardware and installation solutions are available for the 737, 747, and 767, 777, with the 757 coming soon.

Computer Re-Hosts
Host computers in older simulators may need to be changed to improve reliability or to incorporate technology improvements. Re-hosts can be complex and are dependent on make, model and age of the device. The engineers at Boeing Training & Flight Services have over 20 years of experience, making them invaluable for this type of update.

Instructor Operating Station (IOS) Requirements
Simulators are heavily dependant on technology that can quickly become obsolete. The Instructor Operating Station is a prime example of this. Boeing Training & Flight Services can replace the existing system with a new PC based system that retains the existing functionality.

737 Rudder Updates
In the United States, it was mandatory by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to provide the enhanced Rudder for an airline’s 737 fleet. This update is sometimes referred to as the Rudder System Enhancement Program, or RSEP.

Qualification Test Guide (QTG) System Updates
The Qualification Test Guide (QTG) is used to record how the simulator performs and compares against reference data. Newer simulators allow them to be stored in electronic format, known as eQTGs. Boeing Training & Flight Services can update your simulator with an eQTG system or just tune your QTG cases to ensure the simulator is performing accurately.

Worldwide Qualification Assistance
Boeing Training & Flight Services has been involved in the certification and recertification of hundreds of simulators covering virtually all simulator manufacturers and aircraft types. We can provide a range of support to certify, recertify, or correct performance and Qualification Test Guide (QTG) issues associated with your devices. We can provide the necessary updates to fix deficiencies before the qualification, and even represent our customer in the evaluation.

Simulation Software Snag Clearance
Over time, centers will collect a list of snags or discrepancies, potentially causing a regulatory agency to impose restrictions on an airline. Boeing Training & Flight Services has the flexibility to mobilize quickly to meet your schedule requirements, or we can consult and determine fixes to clean up the residual open items on a training device.

Motion System Subjective Tuning
Boeing Training & Flight Services can retune the motion system of your simulator with your pilots to ensure the simulator flies accurately. We can provide experienced pilot evaluations and be an airline's reference as a baseline for the motion.

Aircraft Technology Improvements
Technology and safety advances lead to the installation of new systems on aircraft. Examples include TCAS (Traffic Collision and Avoidance System), EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System), and GMCS (Ground Maneuvering Camera System).

Obsolete Equipment Replacement
Boeing Training & Flight Services has the capability of replacing obsolete equipment, which is useful when spare parts are no longer available for your simulator.
